Applying the Basics in the Community
On Saturday 26th Nottingham RAYNET attended the training event organised by Nottingham & Nottinghamshire LRF (Local Resilience Forum) at Guildhall in Nottingham City centre. The event was attended by Nottingham RAYNET, WRVS, Red Cross, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottingham 4×4 Response, Notts SAR, Cruse Bereavement and Nottingham city and Nottingham county EPD. The training focussed on increasing the knowledge and understanding of volunteers regarding their own and other agencies’ incident response roles and responsibilities.
Orston Spring Dash
Nottingham RAYNET had it’s first official tasking for 2014 providing communications for Orston Primary School’s fundraising event in Orston, Nottinghamshire. It was the first event organised by the school and was a success with all participants completing the 10km run with no injuries. There was a surprise at the finish line when No 10 crossed the finish line first after the all checkpoints reported that runner No 5 was in the lead for the whole course, a wrong turn at the last junction cost him 1st place.
Club of the Year 2013
Also on Sunday 27th April after the Spring Dash, Steve G4XCK (RSGB Regional 13 Manager) presented the CoTY trophy and certificate to SARC. Unfortunately due to timings and other commitments from club members, not all could attend. All worked out well though and presented a great photo opportunity before a quick trip to the pub for a coke. Thank you to Psi, 2EØPZP for travelling from Lincoln for the presentation. We can all look forward to what this year will present in terms of Club achievements.
An intermediate course will be starting soon, anyone interested in participating please get in touch, exams will be held in August. There is a foundation course underway, with a possibility of another starting very soon. More details to follow on those.
We are still looking for participants in a buildathon event and a date for this to take place, any members or non members that are interested are welcome to email their names and once we have enough interested we can start planning to make this happen.
